Nutrition for a triathlon is critically important to your race, especially when it comes to longer races. Many times during my Ironman distance races, my nutrition plan was challenged. Leaving me there with cramps, bent over and losing my lunch or worse running to the porta potty, which is not a pleasant experience let me tell you.

The featured product is Accelerade, which was created at a time when sports and sports nutritionists believed that nutrition was all about carbohydrates. It was then that a leading sports scientist and exercise physiologists came together and Pacific Health was formed.

It was discovered through their study that the carb to protein ratio of 4:1 would significantly aid hydration. They list a number of clinical studies that prove their experiences. Accelerade is a powdered sports drink designed for endurance athletes. The formula reduces muscle damage during exercise and helps reduce recovery times after tough workouts.

It is available in the following flavors, Fruit Punch, Orange, Lime, Lemonade, and Mountain Berry. A sports drink is all you need for any run under three hours, for any run over three hours your nutritional needs will change dramatically and you will need to eat solid foods while on your bike in addition to your choice sports drink.
